When the Skiatook Lady Bulldogs (12-9) hosted the Collinsville Cardinals (19-2), Collinsville proved why they are ranked #1 in the state by the OSSAA, beating the Bulldogs 56-37.

Still, with Skiatook’s Kendall Schulte and 6’5” Mallory Vaughn of the Cardinals on the same floor, the game promised to offer a look at two of the best in 5A going at it.

The match-up, at least between the two star scorers, did not disappoint. Schulte netted 16 points while Vaughn scored 17. Collinsville’s O’Dell was the high scorer of the game, though, with 18.

In terms of Lady Bulldogs scoring, this matchup was almost scarily similar to the first time these two teams squared off—a big first quarter followed by miserable second and third quarters. Skiatook scored 15 in the first, but only managed to score 10 total points through the second and third quarter. They were outscored by 14 over the midgame drought, which set Collinsville up for an easy victory in the fourth.

The season is far from over for Skiatook, though. The Lady Bulldogs are a ranked team that can play with anybody in the state at time. If points can start coming at a consistent pace then this team could be contenders in the region and have a chance to make some noise at state.
