SKIATOOk — It was just what the doctor ordered for both the Claremore girls and boys basketball teams Friday night at Skiatook.

The Lady Zebras downed the home team and ruined senior night with a 49-44 momentum-sparking victory heading into Thursday's regional against Memorial at Shawnee.

The Claremore boys also got an easy win, rested the starters and got a preview of Friday's home regional first-round opponent with a 74-49 victory.

This was the final regular season home game of the season.

Claremore girls 49, Skiatook 44 — The Lady Zebras have lost more than their fair share of close games down the stretch this season. But Friday at Skiatook, Claremore finished strong in a 49-44 win to finish the regular season 12-11.

With 1:55 left in the third quarter, Skiatook's Kendall Schulte's layup gave the Lady Bulldogs their biggest lead of the night, 36-28, which held up to start the fourth quarter.

But the home team was outscored by Claremore 21-8 in the final 9:55 of the game. In fact, only one Skiatook player, Schulte, scored in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, the Lady Zebras got hot at the right time. A Skylar Muncy trey with 6:45 cut Skiatook's lead to 36-33. And the Lady Zebras caught up with an Abbey Cox free throw with 4:28 left. Cox struck again with 3:05 with a 3-pointer which gave the Lady Zebras the lead for good.

Destiny Richards hit two free throws for a 43-38 lead.

After Schulte hit a long 3-pointer to cut the lead to 43-41 with 1:01 left, it was up to Muncy and Lauren Chancellor to seal the deal at the free throw line.

Muncy made two with 35 seconds left for a 45-41 lead, and Chancellor hit four of six down the stretch to secure the win.

Chancellor and Muncy combined for 18 of Claremore's 22 first-half points, and the Lady Zebras trailed 24-22 at the break.

Chancellor scored five of Claremore's six third-quarter points as Skiatook's lead grew to eight.

Chancellor scored eight of her game-high 25 points in the fourth. Muncy hit three treys on her way to 13 points.

Schulte led Skiatook with 19 points.

The win was a good confidence booster heading into regionals at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Shawnee High School.
