Bryan Miller was named the 5A Region 7 Assistant Coach of the Year.

“It is definitely an honor. I’m not the type to look at what kinds of awards I can get, but it’s rewarding to know it pays off to work hard,” said Miller.

Miller has been coaching for 21 years. This was his fourth year coaching in Skiatook as the assistant football coach, assistant basketball coach and assistant baseball coach. He graduated from Skiatook High School in 1999. “It’s special to work in Skiatook and coach in the same facilities I played in growing up,” Miller said.

Miller enjoys anything competitive. “I’m pretty intense on the sidelines,” he said. He translates that competitive spirit into building a rapport with his athletes. “It’s fun to fight the battles with them in each sport. We compete through the ups and downs and stick together because that’s how real life works.”

His attitude and support of each one of the student athletes helps to teach them about life and grow their maturity throughout their high school careers. He brings the athletes together to compete as one unit. “Kids get pulled in a lot of directions. We try to help sort that out through sports and achieving the common team goals,” Miller said.

Miller is looking forward to summer football and basketball camps like the passing league and summer pride workouts. The Bulldogs are looking forward to many more years of Coach Miller’s commitment and support of our students.
