On November 29th the 5A #2 Bulldogs traveled to Vinita to wrestle the 4A #2 Hornets. Skiatook was looking to redeem themselves from their only dual loss last season. With most of the Bulldogs wrestling at a weight class above what they normally will wrestle and missing three returning starters things didn’t look good for the evening. The two teams battled hard and after six matches both had three wins apiece, but the Hornets were ahead 13 to 18. The mighty Bulldogs buckled down and came away with seven victories out of the next eight matches making the final dual score 49 to 21.

Skiatook took an early lead after 106 pounds Kyle Bowman pinned his guy in the first period at the 1:49 mark. At 113lbs Skiatook’s Trey Bowman wrestled Henson and won by a 4 to 0 decision making the dual score 9 to 0 after two matches. At 120 pounds Naataani Biggoose lost by fall. Wrestling at 126 pounds was Cody Francis against Vinita’s Brown. Francis was able to defeat the Vinita Hornet by a 14 to 6 major decision making the dual score 13 to 6. Jacob Myers at 132 pounds and Ivan Long at 138 pounds both lost by falls. With those two pins the Hornets pulled ahead by five making the dual score 13 to 18. Up next for the Bulldogs was Freshman BK Seago at 145 pounds. The young Bulldog fought for three periods and came away with a 7 to 3 decision. At 152 pounds Tony Johnson man handled the Hornet’s Chris Cox and came away with a fall in the second period. After Seago and Johnson’s wins the Bulldogs were back on top of the Hornets 22 to 18. Jeran Seabolt at 160 pounds was the next Bulldog to step out on the mat. He went toe to toe with the Hornet for all three periods in a back and forth match, but it would be the Junior Bulldog that would outlast his opponent and came away with an 8 to 7 decision. Richie Lee at 170 pounds wrestled Vinita’s Zach Pamren. The Junior had the fastest fall of the night with a :10 second pin and extended the lead by thirteen points making the dual score 31 to 18. Hunter Hall faced the Hornet’s Zach Wattenbarger at the 182 pound spot and lost a tough battle by a 7 to 3 decision. At 195 pounds Skiatook’s Brian Pollard wrestled Body Miller and pinned him early in the third period. With that win the Bulldogs sealed the victory over the Vinita Hornets making the dual score 37 to 21. The next two Bulldogs Freshman Devin Wilson at 220 pounds and Senior Korbin Mclaughlin both man handled their opponents with first period falls at :53 seconds and :45 seconds. The final dual score was 49 to 21 in favor of the Bulldogs.
