CLAREMORE — After hearing the good news of being ranked No. 8 in Class 5A on Monday, the Claremore volleyball team dropped three straight sets to visiting Skiatook on Tuesday.

The Lady Zebras just couldn’t get anything going in the 25-19, 25-21, 25-20 loss to the Lady Bulldogs, and are now an even 7-7 on the season.

“We struggled with consistency tonight,” Claremore coach David Blakemore said. “Skiatook forced us to make enough errors to take the match from us.”

Claremore was coming off an easy win Monday against Tulsa Rogers, but Skiatook is a much tougher opponent and the Metro Lakes rival took advantage of Claremore’s young’uns.

“It’s not something that’s uncommon with a younger team,” Blakemore said. “But we will need our younger contributors to continue to progress on their consistency along with their improvement.”

Claremore will head to Tulsa Edison on Monday, Aug. 29.

In other scores, it was Metro?Christian over Catoosa 25-27, 25-20, 25-10, 25-15; Verdigris over Grove 25-7, 25-6, 25-10; and Inola over Oologah 25-8, 27-25, 25-10
